Most of us can relate to school pictures from 8th grade to 12th ,having some form of  an acne outbreak, and almost without fail, a large pimple prominently placed on the tip of the nose, making us look like the wicked witch of the east.
 
 
 
 
There are no sure ways of never getting another pimple, but with acne medicine having serious side effects and the fact that it merely is masking a health condition, I would encourage you to try some of the following tips instead of medication.
 
#1 Keep your Bowel squeaky clean. If toxins are not excreted through the proper channels, it may very likely come out through the skin. I suggest a diet based on raw vegetables and fruits and popcorn (no butter). Herbs such as LBS II, Cascara Sagrada,  and Psyllium may keep the bowels moving and clean.
 
#2 Keep pores unclogged possibly using a loofah or abrasive face cream(sometimes can irritate oil glands, back off if acne worsens).  Try a plastic pot scrubber. Keep hair spray and make up off the face.
 
#3 Watch diet. Limit or restrict intake of deep fried foods, all milk products, chocolate, caramel colored sodas, caffeine and fatty foods.
 
#4 Use herbal based makeup (if you must). Clean off makeup at night.
 
#5 Hormonal imbalances can cause acne problems. To help regulate hormones for males use Sarsaparilla and for females Female Comfort FC with Dong quai.
 
#6 Aloe Vera juice or gel topically. Vitamin E, A, D, Zinc and  Horsetail, internally helps prevent acne scarring.
 
#7 Purify or Cleanse the blood. Used historically: Burdock, and Essiac Tea instant {freeze dried}.  Also Chickweed & Red Clover for flushing out fats.
 
#8 Drink plenty of water to help in hydration and to help the kidney  filter out the blood.
 
#9 Niacin increases circulation to the surface of the skin.
 
#10 There is a homeopathic remedy called ACNE.
 
 
Although most teenagers will not adhere to a healthy life style, school picture time, may be a way of sneaking in some good nutritional habits and maybe even a bowel cleanse.
