Benefits of Ear Candling

  :

ge

Ear Candles may offer multiple benefits

An ear candle, sometimes called an ear cone, is a
long hollow tube tapered to a hand-finished tip,
that fits comfortably into the outer ear canal.

The large end of the candle is lit and the smoke
created spirals down through the ear candle into
the ear during the first couple of minutes of the
burn after which the flow changes direction.

Using ear candles is comfortable
, non-invasive,
peaceful and actually quite pleasant experience.

If you've been looking for information of the benefits of ear candling, you've probably read many different claims about it - from the believable to the - well - not so believable.

One thing I do have is my own experience. I had plugged up ears, poor hearing, with excessive ear wax,,,,and now I don’t!!

The one thing I did to clear my ears was to ear candle. My experience tells me that ear candling works to unplug my ears and improve my hearing.

One of the benefits of ear candling is - it works.

Swimmer’s Ear

The first of the benefits of ear candling is one that is really important - if you have this problem - "swimmer's ear".

If you have swimmer's ear, you don't want to wait a minute more until you get some relief!
Oh the pain!
And maybe it's Saturday night at the cottage, do you want the hour drive to the nearest emergency?
Even just having water in your ear and having your ear really plugged because of it is very annoying.

What happens is water gets trapped in your ear canal, and then the bacteria starts multiplying. Ear candling does not actually deal with the bacterial infection, but it can relieve some of the pressure in your ear canal, relieving some of the pain. And as you remove some of the wax, some of the bacteria goes with it. This allows you to heal more easily and you can get some sleep.
Definitely one of the benefits of ear candling!

Ear Infections

The next one of the benefits of ear candling is concerning relief from the pain of ear infections.

Example: Infection under thumb nail

Swollen and very painful...so you go to the emergency room and the doctor on call, gets a little drill of sorts and drills a few holes through thumbnail......
This allows the pressure to be released and some of the fluid from under the nail to escape.
Drilling holes in thumbnail didn’t exactly “heal” the infection. But it helped get rid of some of the problem, and the immune system did the rest.

It's the same with ear candling. Ear candling itself will not heal an ear infection, but sometimes it can relieve enough pressure and remove enough bacteria so that the pain is gone and the body can heal.

Your hearing is nothing to be careless with, and if you have an ear infection, (in other words, otitis media, please go and get proper medical attention.

Plugged Ears

Another benefit of ear candling is one that helps with plugged ears.

“Remove impacted earwax

Get rid of fungus
As unpleasant as this sounds, it’s possible to have itchy ears because of fungus growing in your ears.

“Provides cleansing of the sinus cavities
Nasal and ear passages are connected.

“Relief from vertigo
Blocked ears can cause some dizziness, therefore it makes sense that if your dizziness is caused by blocked ear passages, then yes, this would be one of the benefits of ear candling.

“Eliminates Glue Ear
The fluid in your middle ear can become very thick and glue-like which reduces hearing. Antibiotics don't help.,

“Headaches and migraines
There are many different reasons for headaches and migraines.

Headaches - perhaps if your headache is caused by increased pressure due to an infection or a cold, ear candling can give some relief.

Reduced hearing

Ear candles which are shaped like long tapered candles, except they are hollow and they do not have candle wicks.
Using an ordinary paper plate to catch any drips from the candle, and punching a hole in the middle in order to insert the candle.  The wider end of the candle is lit and  the narrower end rests gently in  ear.
After a few moments, you will hear some small sounds – a crinkling or rustling sound.  The soft crackling of the flame .

When the candle has burnt down, it is  cut it open to reveal ear wax,

Ear wax is a natural protection in the ear canal, and that after a session, you shouldn’t do things like swimming for 24 hours, so that you don't get water in ears, until the natural protection is back.

 Afterward;
Ears don't feel so plugged and hearing is sharper.

Many people are opting for non-invasive therapies these days. One which is extremely popular is ear-candling.
This involves inserting a lighted, hollow candle made from fabric coated with beeswax into the ear.
It creates a vacuum in the ear canal which draws out excessive earwax and any minor impurities which may be present.

One reason that ear candling is better than ear syringing is because it draws out the wax; whereas, syringing involves shooting water into the ears. This can lodge wax particles further inside the ear canal and cause infection if water stays lodged inside the ear.

Heat produced from the candle helps to draw out excess ear wax and other debris which may be present in the ear canal.

Benefits of ear candling include relieving tinnitus (ringing in the ears), helping to relieve sinus pain and pressure, removing excess wax build up, assisting with relieving Swimmers` ear, assisting with headaches, relieving severely itchy ears (often caused by yeast, mould or dairy allergies) and helping to unplug ears (often due to illness).

Other potential benefits may include improved lymphatic fluid flow through the body, improved colour perception, a more balanced emotional state and clearer thinking.

It has also been reported that those who partake in ear candling experience an improved sense of taste as well as reduced pressure, which may be present in the ears due to a wax build up or infection. Claims have also been made that they are able to assist with purifying the blood. Others have reported experiencing a relaxing and soothing effect on the mind and body after an
ear candlingsession.

Ear candling practitioners believe that all of the openings in the head are connected in a maze-like system, allowing the vacuum created by the ear candle to drain the body by osmosis through the ear membrane. This is believed to create a sense of all-over well-being in the body.

Do not attempt ear candling too soon after any form of ear surgery or if you have a ruptured eardrum, cysts in the ears, cochlear implants, mastoiditis (infection of the mastoid bone behind the ear) or tubes (grommets) inserted in the ears.

WHERE DID THIS THERAPY COME FROM?

Ear candling or coning is an alternative therapy treatment which dates back to the year 2500 B.C. Ancient cultures including the Egyptians, Essences, Mayans, Tibetans, Chinese, Indians, and the Orient have shown evidence of participating in this ancient practice. It was a procedure offered only to great warriors, spiritual leaders, or those at the top of the social hierarchy. Some cultures considered ear wax candling to be not only a cleansing of the body but a spiritual cleansing of the mind and sole as well. Many times, this procedure is done in a meditative and calm state. It is still used today all over the world. In fact, in Germany, medical students have to learn about ear candling as a part of their studies.
